I always enjoy attending Fashion Week event in NYC. It gives me a chance to see what fashion designers have been up to...which trends they'll be setting (or trying to)...how they use fabrics & colors and what I should try to imitate. Let's face it...most of what's being catwalked is waayyyy out of my price range, but a girl can dream, right?
At this year's Couture Fashion show at the ritzy Waldorf Astoria in NYC, the designs went from dignified to dowdy...cultured to costume-like and wearable to way-over-the-top.
Here are my top picks. They exude bright and bold creativity. Enjoy.

The Crossover Bag is a savvy accessory for storing your personal and monetary needs in one compact place. And, with NYC Fashion Week in affect, it's a recommendable choice for easy access while hitting up the shows. It's lightweight sling-over appearance is spot-on for commuting on the subway and strolling the crowded NYC streets or any street, for that matter!

With the first day of summer making its beaming appearance in the next couple of weeks, it is the perfect time to start investing in a pair of height defining sandals. Wedges are the ideal choice for all style types, with an array of neutral tones on the market; you are bound to find a pair that will compliment your look. This summer 2012, go for mixed animal prints, cognac finishes or metallic hints, each accent adds just the right touch of chic.

Ohhh.....I love the styles of the summer season....the strappy summer sandals, the floppy straw hats, the sheer alluring breezy dresses, the anything goes kind of look. I think it must be part of my rebellious personality that surfaces when it gets hot & sticky and day/night time plans are made, truly...at the last minute.
I also love the unstructured routine - including what I carry around in bag. This time of year, I toss whatever I can find, read or eat in my oversized straw tote/beach/office/date bag.
I know what I MUST have with me everyday. What about you?
Just read the latest US Weekly Magazine at my new nail salon. (I can't watch them do my nails). So...... I see that the latest rage are printed pants for women. Guess I've been living under a rock.
I just tossed 2 pair of printed slacks that I've had since they were in style the last time (I refuse to incriminate myself with dates). One pair still had tags on them and every year, during closet cleaning season, I was going to wear them. Never found (or made) the right occasion to prowl in my printed pants, so I supposed I just graced someone else's life.
So now they're back and I'm lovin' the printed personalities... the colors...the designs...the staple accessory apparel. With such busy patterns, you don't need much else to make your look funky, demure or slammin'. The diverse cuts of the slacks means that every body type can rock them. Check out which ones you'll look smashing in... Pinterest.
Almost 20 years ago, I was obsessed with taupe shoes. Seemed to me that they went with everything I owned. My friends could see me coming a mile away with those shoes. I really didn't care. I wore them with pride. Had them in at least 3-4 styles. All in taupe.
Alas! The new crop of spring shoes waiting to greet you at the shoe store door are...taupe...patent leather, strappy sandals or just plain ole' pumps. Maybe I should just hang on to all of my stuff so that I'll be ready when the styles come back around. I'd be one helluva fashionista if I had just stored my bell bottoms, platform shoes and afro pick.
I never really know what to expect during Fashion Week. Although the past shows proved electrifying and over-the-top, I've never really been able to relate to the designs. I certainly couldn't fit into any of the dresses and gowns, much less figure out where the heck to wear them to.
This year was different..... Andres Aquino produced one of the most spectacular shows during Couture Fashion Week (Feb. 17-20). Complete with professional ballroom dancers, songstresses and a tightly run ship, the shows featured at the historic and elegant Waldorf Astoria in NYC were grand.
The fashions this year were different...detailed, immaculately designed and WEARABLE! Lot's of sheer overlays on dresses, lots and lots of roses, feathers and leather. Get ready ladies....
