I'm always looking for a quick, get-fit-now scheme that doesn't require me to etch out extra time on my daily calendar. Well, according to the great Dr. Oz (we love him!), there are a few foods that can help boost your metabolism, give you more energy, burn more fat and help you become more fit. More fit means....more fab! We're all about the "simple fab" here at Neero & Ana. Count me in!
Out of the 8 foods recommended, 4 of them are loaded with fiber...the stuff that fills you up and sticks to your stomach longer. The end result is you stay fuller longer and aren't hungry an hour after you eat.
The other four, according to Dr. Oz, are excellent metabolic boosters. I must confess, I was quite surprised to see chilli peppers on the list. Apparently, the main metabolism booster in hot peppers in a substance called Capsaicin and most hot peppers contain this substance. Past experience has taught me that it's not the peppers going in that kills me, but......we'll let's not go there.
Your mission: get to the supermarket or farm fresh fruit stand right now and get fit!
Let' me clarify things first....(pun intended). I'm clearly a creature of habit and am overwhelmed by the thousands of choices on the beauty shelves today for hair care. Why can't I just use the same ole hydrating shampoo for the rest of my life?
I'm never really sure which potion to pick for my relaxed hair, colored hair, short hair, prone-to-humidity hair.....well, you get the picture. Now that summer has smacked me in the face, I'll be complicating the whole "hair" dilemma by trying to figure out how to care for my locks after a chlorinated or salt water dip.
I'll admit, I didn't know a lot about clarifying shampoos and I certainly didn't know anything about chelating shampoos. My first though was...."What the #!@ is a chelating shampoo?" Well, here's what I found:
CHELATING SHAMPOOS - Made to get rid of minerals, salts, copper, magnesium & other chemical deposits left on hair . You get this build up from hard water sources, chlorine pools and even chemical hair relaxer products. It's a step above clarifying shampoos as it doesn't just remover build up, but harsh minerals as well. Recommendation: Use during the summer months (after swimming) at least once a week. During the rest of the year - perhaps every other month.
CLARIFYING SHAMPOOS- Think about all the products you use to attract Mr. Right or just turn a few heads on the street -(shampoos, conditioners, gels, sprays, gloss & serums, etc.). Regular shampooing isn't going to come close to removing all those products that have saturated your strands, girlfriend. At least once a month, you should be using a gentle clarifying shampoo that removes all that styling build-up. It deeply cleanses hair and you're likely to finally get that "squeaky clean" feel. And you don't have to spend a lot to get good results.
I can't tell you how many times I've been late to an event or date simply because I hated my outfit or couldn't style my hair perfectly. Nothing seemed to work...the slacks weren't fitting right...the top was blah...the jewelry looked trashy...the shoes weren't working. My hair just wouldn't fall properly...the curls wouldn't twist like I wanted them to...the ends seemed dry... no amount of hair goop could make my edges smooth and lay flat. You know the drill.
Funny thing is, my hair looked the same yesterday and the clothing...well... I'd matched up that same outfit before. Ok...time for a mental readjustment. Sometimes I just need to slap myself and realize that THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME.
The clothes and the hair don't make me. The most expensive Jimmy Choo's don't define how smart I am. The freshly brushed highlights in my hair won't help me win a deal. The pencil skirt I nabbed at Bloomingdale's wasn't going to give me the inner joy I needed to happy or to be a blessing to someone else that day.
Who cares that I have a curling iron burn on the side of my head or that my teeth aren't straight or that I have a few corns on my toes. Yes, I have flaws and I am the proud treasurer of the national Imperfection Club where there are millions of members. Today, though I'll release a genuine smile, look in the mirror and love what I see and embrace everything about me. Gee...I feel better already!
Nope....we didn't leave you out. These are the top picks for swimsuits if you're pretty much in shape, but don't want anything spilling out, if you know what I mean. It's all about color this year...from bright neons to cool, breezy pastels. Whatever tickles your fancy, be sure to update your swimwear with a suit that actually fits your body.

Ohhh.....I love the styles of the summer season....the strappy summer sandals, the floppy straw hats, the sheer alluring breezy dresses, the anything goes kind of look. I think it must be part of my rebellious personality that surfaces when it gets hot & sticky and day/night time plans are made, truly...at the last minute.
I also love the unstructured routine - including what I carry around in bag. This time of year, I toss whatever I can find, read or eat in my oversized straw tote/beach/office/date bag.
I know what I MUST have with me everyday. What about you?
