It was a typical errand weekend this past Saturday and Sunday. Seems that everyone in the world was in the store I happened to be in. The lines were long and the kids were screaming in stereo. It really didn't matter to me. I was thoroughly entertained by the woman in front of me. She had no idea that she had become the object of my daydream. My line-mate was covered in tattoos...hands, neck, arms and legs. Gee, I thought, that's a lot of ink. I even started to wonder what was on the parts that were covered. How does she dress at the office or for an interview? I realized at that moment in time that I was probably the only woman on earth who didn't sport a permanent rose or butterfly tattoo on my flesh.
Did a little research on the topic: Apparently, the ink business is busier than ever these days, especially for women. Nearly 40 million folks in the US alone have at least one tattoo. That's a lot of dots and dabbing. Gosh, I can think of some body improvement treatments I'd like to have, but somehow, tattooing wasn't on my list.
I hear that it's the ultimate expression of art on your personal canvas...25% of the population thinks so too. Maybe one day, I'll get with the program. That way, I'll be able to legitimately ask someone if they'd like to come over to see my etchings.
