I don't care who you are or what you do for a living....we all go through periods where our confidence is lost or at least -hiding for a while. And although we think we've got it all together, there's always that little something that keeps us from snatching back that moon that once had our name written all over it.
So, how do you gain it back? It surely isn't going to boomerang from a stranger's compliment, a rusty gold medal, a man's whistle or by winning cash from a $1 scratch-off ticket. Confidence is purposeful. It takes work and like money - doesn't grow on trees.
I've come up with 3 tips to rebuilding your confidence. Wanna hear them? Here they go......
- Never ever say the word "hate" when it comes to your looks or your life. Don't find anything negative about the way you look. Wacked -out hair or a little belly bulge is a thing of beauty, girl! It's what makes you unique. Decide to wear your imperfections proudly or vow to improve your slight blemishes. Just don't put yourself down every again.
- Gratitude: Literally write down on your smart phone (or a small pad) 3 things you're really grateful for every day while you're on your way to work. Tell yourself how grateful you are that you make a difference on your job; that you got up from a warm, cozy bed; or that you were blessed with great legs. This isn't about boasting. It's about recognition of how fierce, powerful and beautiful you really are.
- I Like You: Repeat this phase throughout the day with a deliberate smile...." (Your Name), I like you." Sounds crazy, but we all talk to ourselves, right? So before your next conversation with yourself, say the phrase above.
